UN and Global Leaders Call for Action Against Iran’s Human Rights Violations

In a recent UN Web TV interview Mai Sato, the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran talked about very serious concerns over human rights conditions in this country. During the interview Sato highlighted the restrictions on freedom of expression and assembly in this official Islamic state.

During her interview she highlighted that Iranian authorities use national security charges rapidly  to arrest human rights activists and journalists who often suffer from poor prison conditions and lack of medical care.

According to the report by Iran News Update, “human rights defenders and journalists face intense pressure with many detained under vague security-related accusations. Once imprisoned, these individuals are frequently deprived of basic healthcare, a situation that further jeopardizes their well-being and underlines the harsh conditions facing detainees across the country.”

Iran is witnessing a big threat as human right violation as death penalty. According to human rights news sources, there is a big boom in the death penalty in Iran. According to the data from a local news source in Iran from October 2023 and October 2024, 811 people faced this hearing, and four were minors.

The rise in executions in cities such as Qezelhessar, Shiraz, and Zanjan reflects a disturbing trend in the country.

Maryam Rajavi  the leader of opposition, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran has also condemned these executions. She asked for the global support  in Iran and take action against human rights abuses in Iran.
