US witnessed over 100,000 hospitalisation for Covid-19
United States–The relaxation related to the Covid-19 pandemic has made the situation in the United States much worse than before as after four months such a surge of cases has been registered by the nation.
As per CNN, over 103,000 people are currently hospitalized with Covid-19 making it the first time in recent months that the numbers have reached six digits. The data was confirmed by the US Department of Health and Human Services.
It has previously said that nearly a year ago, the number of cases crossed 142,000 on January 14, 2021 and last year in September, it was 100,000 which was the last six digit figure but the concerns of Omicron, the latest variant of the Covid-19 virus, grew with the increasing number of cases.
The number of cases were very well controlled towards the end of the year especially in November when the cases amounted to 45,000 hospitalizations in early November but soon after the holiday season in December with the Christmas and New Year’s. Just last Monday, 71,000 Covid-19 cases were reported and patients were hospitalized, reported HHS.
Other than that, even the children’s hospital has seen a surge of cases. In Illinois, the cases that were registered in the official record tripled since the beginning of December. The information was passed on by governor J. B. Pritzker. Even the New Jersey Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli stated that the number of pediatric hospitalizations in the state have nearly doubled in the coming seven days.
