45th Olympic Council of Asia Assembly to be hosted in Kuwait

This Sunday in Kuwait the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is holding its 45th General Assembly, with OCA Secretary General Thong Khon officially welcoming sports officials from Asia, who will be attending the Assembly. Delegates from 45 countries, will join together themed as “One Asia.” The emphasis is on solidarity and strength in portraying the continent of Asia in the sport.
The 45th General Assembly will be launched with an event celebrating Asia’s diversity at the Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre with acts from China, India, Lebanon, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait, among others, representing Asia’s diversity. This is a significant gesture to open the gathering around themes of collaboration, unity and friendship.
According to Hussain Al-Musallam, Director-General of the OCA, around 400 distinguished sports personalities from Asia and other regions of the world are expected to be present.
The official assembly will be held on Monday and is set to be an opportunity to say membership sharing all of the discussions that will be used to advance the Olympic movement in Asia, and encourage the basic values of friendship, fairness, and respect.
Among the notable guests in attendance will be International Olympic Committee President Dr Thomas Bach and the newly-elected IOC President Kirsty Coventry, a former Olympic champion and seven-time medalist.
