Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stirred discussions regarding the possibilities for a  major peace deal between Israel and Saudi Arabia during his speech at the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, which was held on September 22, 2023. In light of the major action, Netanyahu expressed possibilities about the prospects for peace a   revamping the Middle East.

Netanyahu emphasized the potential for a big breakthrough by drawing comparisons to the Abraham Accords, which Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain signed in 2020. He emphasized the revolutionary nature of these deals and foresaw an even greater transformation through a historic peace accord with Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia’s Role and MbS’s Positive Outlook

A deal with Israel was on the verge of realization, said Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also referred to as MbS. Their meeting, together with the conversations with President Joe Biden, demonstrates the seriousness of the efforts being made to create this peace accord. The cooperation between these influential personalities suggests a sincere desire to bring peace to the area.

Palestinian participation in the peace process is still a consequential factor.
