California: Palisades Fire and Eaton Fire force thousands to flee

California is facing intense blazes and strong traffic jams as more than 30,000 people flee into safety. The fire affecting an upscale section of the US state has already destroyed scores of buildings. It is being dubbed as the Palisades Fire.

Major portions of the Pacific Palisades area are being affected. The second blaze dubbed the Eaton Fire broke out some 50 km inland near Pasadena and doubled in size in a short time, according to Cal Fire.

Mark Hamill, Mandy Moore and many other prominent celebrities are being compelled by the fierce blazes to flee their homes, as stars react to the raging situation. Hamill said Tuesday’s fire is the “most horrific” blaze since the Kinneloa Fire of 1993.

‘Casino’ star James Woods has also been posting about the fire on social media. This included scenes of flames rampaging through the house of a neighbour. Hours later, he noted that his home’s smoke detectors had been pinging alerts to his smartphone.
