Sudan Army Recaptures Strategic City of Wad Madani in Major Victory
The Sudanese army has regained Wad Madani, a strategic city in Sudan from RSF rebels, the Rapid Support Forces. Joyous moments erupted across the country as soldiers of the government arrived to get the major triumph in the country’s civil war that began in April of 2023.
What the army achieved was possible with the support of local factions and the rebel defectors. The RSF fighters headed out of the city after their supply line was exhausted and they were driven out by army plane attacks. They advanced towards the capital city which is Khartoum and up to date they occupy most of the region.
This victory is particularly significant because of the area location of Wad Madani in El Gezira which is mainly associated with farming. During the period that RSF was controlling farms, farms were gotten destroyed and many people displaced from their homes. The war has led to more than 12 million people being displaced, and 50 percent of Sudan’s population is starving.
The people of Anbar province said that the fighters of RSF had robbed individuals houses and injured many people during the time when they had the control of the city. Now, as army is back in control people pray that things can get back to something near normal.
