Hamas to Release Hostage, Remains of Others as Negotiations Continue
Hamas has announced that they are ready to release an Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander. Hamas also said that they will release this hostage along with the four other dual nationals. This announcement comes during the indirect talks between Hamas and Israel over a potential ceasefire in Gaza.
The first phase of a truce between the two sides ended on March 1 without an agreement on what comes next. Negotiators have resumed discussions in Doha, Qatar, with Israel also sending a delegation.
During the initial six-week ceasefire, Hamas released 33 hostages, including eight who were already deceased in exchange for approximately 1,800 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
Sources are claiming that Hamas is considering the new proposals by mediators. The situation remains tense as both sides navigate the next steps in the ongoing conflict.
