UEFA: Referee Tomasz Kwiatkowski’s decision backfires and got suspended

The social media is still buzzing with the controversial decision of referee Tomasz Kwiatkowski during the UEFA league match between Atletico Madrid & Real Madrid by disallowing the goal, citing the ‘double kick’ infraction that is Alvarez touched the ball twice before it reached the net. So, this decision led to the elimination of Atletico from the tournament. Following this incident UEFA has suspended Tomasz the Polish VAR from his duties but the specified period hasn’t been revealed.

He was assigned as VAR (Video Assistant Referee) for the quarter final between Tottenham Hotspur and Eintracht Frankfurt. After this announcement he was replaced by a Spanish official, Alejandro Hernandez. 

Fans began to raise questions over the double-stand of UEFA because initially his decision regarding the “double kick” was backed by them and they even released a video with explanation to clarify it clearly. Within  few days they have announced to suspend him as VAR and this move of UEFA again spared the questions regarding the use of VAR in a crucial moments during such high-stake matches of European competitions.
