Kuwait and Nepal to Host Annual Cricket Series Starting in 2026
Kuwait Cricket and the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) have come to a historic agreement to host each other in an annual series of men’s and women’s cricket, where each party will play host starting in 2026.
This agreement was made official during the ICC Annual General Meeting in Singapore and will include a minimum of three T20 Internationals and a minimum of three 50-over games played in both countries on a home-and-away series each year. This gives players from both teams opportunities for more international exposure.
Key officials who agreed to the arrangement were Chatur Bahadur Chand (President, CAN), Sajid Ashraf (Director General, Kuwait Cricket), and representatives from CAN (Paras Khadka and Padam Bahadur Khadka). This arrangement comes at an opportune time, with Nepal recently competing at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and Kuwait getting ready to compete at the 2026 Asia Regional Qualifiers.
This series aims to advance the development of talent, advance competition, and deepen cultural and sporting ties between the two nations. Kuwait’s large Nepali population living in the country is especially helpful for enriching cultural ties. Both countries are within the same group for the 2026 T20 Asia Regional Qualifiers, leading to some more excitement with the growing rivalry.
This annual series is destined to be a key event in associate cricket, encouraging joint development and cricketing excellence.
