CAF Disciplinary Board Sanctions FSF and FRMF After AFCON 2025 Final Chaos
The CAF Disciplinary Board sanctions declared after the Total Energies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 Final have delivered a message of strong discipline and fair play. The case concerns the Fédération Sénegalaise de Football (FSF) and the Fédération Royale Marocaine de Football (FRMF) because of the grave fouls committed in the last game. CAF pointed out that unsporting behavior by the players, referees, and fans harmed the game. Suspensions, hefty fines, and the disposal of an official protest are the disciplinary measures imposed by the CAF Disciplinary Board and serve to strengthen the zero-tolerance policy of CAF towards misconduct during major tournaments.
Key Decisions by the CAF Disciplinary Board
The applicable disciplinary measures as provided by the CAF Disciplinary Board against FSF are: coach Pape Bouna Thiam suspension of five matches and a fine of USD 100,000, Iliman Ndiaye and Ismaila Sarr suspended, and fines totaling USD 615,000 for supporter and team misconduct. Suspensions of Achraf Hakimi and Ismael Saibari, over USD 300,000 fines and awards of VAR interference and laser use are all sanctions imposed on FRMF by the CAF Disciplinary Board. Protest against FSF by FRMF was also dismissed by the CAF Disciplinary Board, bringing the disciplinary measures to an end.
