The fragile ceasefire in Lebanon continues to come under threat owing to military activity, unresolved political issues, and regional tension. Lebanon ceasefire under pressure, Despite efforts by international mediation to maintain calm, continuous military operations on the part of Israel, the problem of weapons belonging to Hezbollah, and rivalry between the USA and Iran are putting the fragile ceasefire at stake.
With many displaced families yet to find their homes and with negotiations yielding minimal results, analysts caution that an escalation would lead to a new front opening up in an already volatile region.
Fragile Ceasefire Continues to Be Violated Over and Again
A ceasefire continues to be in place; however, military activity has not stopped in certain areas of southern Lebanon.
There have been drone strikes, surveillance activity, and small-scale clashes in certain areas such as Nabatieh Governorate and nearby regions.
International mediators have consistently encouraged the parties to show restraint, pointing out that any further violations will jeopardize the ceasefire agreement.
Humanitarian Situation Remains a Concern in Southern Lebanon
A number of months of fighting have created a considerable humanitarian situation.
Over one million people have been affected by the war, whereby a significant number of the populace has seen their homes, roads, electricity grid, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities destroyed.

They warn that one single security incident may disrupt all months of talks and may lead to military escalation.
Continued U.S.-Iran Tensions Continue to Impact Lebanon

U.S.-Iran relations, in particular the issues of sanctions and proxy organizations’ activities, have a direct impact on the security situation in Lebanon.
Historically speaking, it was observed that during times of higher tensions between those two nations, the situation at the border between Israel and Lebanon became more unstable.
Balance Between Military Pressure and Domestic Politics
It is essential to note that the LAF continues to highlight that the Lebanese state must assert its power across all territories within the country.
Nevertheless, political disagreements and restrictions make it difficult for the government to deal with the problem of non-state armed actors.
It seems rather hard for authorities to implement any reforms in terms of security without reaching an agreement within the country.
