Al-Nassr Loses Saudi King’s Cup Final To Al Hilal On Penalties
The world’s most famous footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, broke into tears when his team, Al-Nassr, lost the final of the Saudi King’s Cup to Al-Hilal. Al-Nassr finished their second season in Saudi Arabia without any major wins. Al-Hilal won the final with a penalty shootout, 5-4, after the game ended 1-1 in extra time. Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in December 2022. Ronaldo, after losing the match, was very upset, but his teammates consoled him. The match was held at King Abdullah Sports City.
Cristiano Ronaldo Sets a New Record
Al-Nassr lost the King’s Cup final just four days after Al-Nassr established its place in the second position in the Saudi Pro League season. Al-Nassr was 14 points behind Al-Hilal.
Ronaldo found his comfort by scoring twice and scoring 35 goals, setting a new record in a season.However, during the King’s Cup Final against Al-Hilal, Ronaldo was unable to find his comfort in a head-to-head match with three red cards and two goals.
After seven minutes, Aleksandar Mitrovic gave Al-Hilal the lead with a header. In the second half, things turned for the worse for Al-Nassr when the team’s goalkeeper, David Ospina, was sent off to handle the ball outside the area. After 86 minutes, Al-Hilal was reduced to 10 men after Ali Al-Bulaihi was given a red card for heatbutting Sami Al-Najei.
Penalty Shootout
The game became a tie when Ayman Yahya scored a header for Al-Nassr. In the 91st minute, Al-Hilal lost their other defender, who joined from Chelsea last summer, Kalidou Koulibaly, who got a yellow card for the second time and was sent off.
During the extra time, there were no goals from both teams, and the final game went to a shootout.Al-Hilal’s first attempt was missed by Ruben Neves, and Al-Nassr’s attempt was missed by former Manchester United defender Alex Telles. Earlier, Ronaldo was successful in scoring his penalty with a spectacular overhead kick but could only watch as Bounou, Morocco’s 2022 World Cup hero, made two saves, one from Al-Nemer and another from Ali Al-Hassan.
