Bahrain’s Manama City Chosen To Host Asian Weightlifting Championship 2022
Bahrain– Priding in being counted amongst nations as a premium destination to hold world sports events, Bahrain is welcoming the 2022 edition of the Asian Weightlifting Championship.
This will be held in Manama between October 06-16. This is for the first time that the kingdom of Bahrain will be hosting this event. This was announced by the The Asian Weightlifting Federation (AWF) Executive Board that is the organization for this continental sporting event.
Bahrain Weightlifting Association Chairman Ishaaq Ibrahim Ishaaq welcomed the 2022 edition of the Asian championship, stressing the importance of the historic event in consolidating the Kingdom’s standing as a destination for major, regional and international and sporting championships.

A lot of credit goes to the government and royalty in Bahrain to push the country as a desired destination for sporting events. This includes His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, hailing royal directives to consolidate Bahrain’s standing on the map of international sports.
In a formal press note, Mr. Ishaaq has praised the support and follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to turn the Kingdom of Bahrain into a destination for major sporting events.
He has also praised the support of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) Chairman and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, SCYS First Deputy Chairman, General Sports Authority (GSA) Chair and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President.
