Baz Luhrmann to Head Jury of Red Sea International Film Festival
Baz Luhrmann, one of the most famous Australian film directors, is set to host the jury of the third edition of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF).
Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival will start on 30 November and end on 9 December in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
Baz Luhrmann will head the Red Sea jury to present awards to filmmakers. The film festival awards will be presented to a competition of 17 titles from filmmakers from the Arab world, Asian and African countries.
Red Sea International Film Festival’s feature film lineup has yet to be announced by the jury.
What did Baz Luhrmann say?
Baz Luhrmann, the famous Australian film director, producer, writer and actor, lauded the film festival of Saudi Arabia. He reportedly said, “After visiting Saudi Arabia, I felt truly inspired by the remarkable young filmmaking talent coming up across the region and to see how they are now capturing the attention of the global film community.”
He also said that he was honoured to be part of the Red Sea International Film Festival’s Jury. He added, “This is happening through cinema across the Arab region, Asia and Africa.”
Red Sea International Film Festival
Red Sea International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals in the Middle East region. Filmmakers and distributors from the Arab world, Asia and Africa submitted their films for this year’s film festival.
The festival will honor the emerging Arab, Asian, and African filmmakers across the world. It will showcase contemporary international and Arab cinema.
There are four categories in this year’s film festival: Red Sea: Competition, Red Sea: Shorts Competition, and New Saudi / New Cinema Features and New Saudi / New Cinema Shorts.
Mohammed Al Turki, CEO of the Red Sea Film Foundation, also lauded the Red Sea International Film Festival.
