Egyptian Prime Minister Heads to Brazil to Attend BRICS Summit 2025

On 5 June 2025, Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly boarded a flight from Cairo International Airport to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to take part in the 17th BRICS Summit on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. The high-level summit is taking place on July 6–7, under the theme of “Strengthening South-South Cooperation for Inclusive and Sustainable Governance,” and will serve as a platform for BRICS Leadership from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, as well as partner nations Egypt is one of the invited partner nations.
PM Madbouly is expected to attend many of the summit sessions with leaders from around the world, with topics focusing on how to support development among southern economies, build mutual investments, and expand governance structures that put people first. Egypt’s participation in this year’s summit further demonstrates its leadership role on the global stage and its importance as a collaborator in international affairs, clarifying its priorities, which include economic reform, innovation and technology partnerships, and sustainable development. The trip to Brazil shows the growing relations with Egypt and emerging economies and is aligned with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which includes regional economic integration, integration of innovation, and inclusive economic development. As BRICS expands its engagement with members and emerging economic counterparts, Egypt’s participation will deepen its strategic engagement and build on its multilateral partnership in the Global South.
