Al-Masjid An-Nabawi

Jannat-al-Baqi
One of the oldest graveyards in Madinah is called Jannat-al-Baqi, or the Garden of Heaven. Many scholars, companions, and members of the Prophet’s family, including his grandson Hazrat Imam Hasan Ibn Ali and his daughter Hazrat Fatima-al-Zehra, are buried here.
It is thought that the Prophet himself decided to bury people in this location. The initial interment of Ansari’s companion, Al-Baqi, took place here. Not long after the Prophet moved to Madinah, he passed away.
