Is Turkey the Hidden Sinner? New Evidence on Baykar and Sudan’s Crisis

Yesterday on March 7, 2025, a report published by The Washington Post raised the eyebrows of many policymakers, people, and the elite class who are following the development of the Sudan crisis. This report came as a big turning point for Sudanese, and human rights organizations and especially for those who are trying to mediate the war and trying to settle it down. In front of the media, and on the stage every big player or small nation calls themselves ‘supporter of peace’, or ‘they are willing to settle the war in Sudan’, but as observers, we all know if everybody wants to end the war than this war should have ended many years ago, till now Sudanese were not suffering. It means some hidden culprits are silently fuelling the Sudan war and crisis. I remember a quotation saying, “A society is full of sinners judging sinners for sinning differently”, It is something similar to the worse situation in Sudan.

The Hidden Connection of Baykar and the Crisis in Sudan:

The report by The Washington Post revealed new documents that show the Turkish arms company Baykar helped fuel the brutal civil war in Sudan. The documents were not published in the public domain but it provided serious insight into the conflict. Baykar was founded in 1993 and receives strong support from the Turkish state. Bayraktar TB2 drone is commonly used in the Turkish military and exported to many nations.

The documents by the Washington Post show that a secret shipment of Turkish drones and missiles was delivered to the Sudanese army last September. A team from Baykar was present on the ground to ensure the deal went smoothly. After the successful transfer, a Baykar employee sent messages to his boss with videos and texts reporting the attacks. One message read, “Today’s attack,” with a video showing an airstrike on a building. A few days later, another message confirmed a second attack on a large warehouse.

Is Türkiye playing the role of a hidden “sinner” on the geopolitical stage during the Sudan war and crisis?

As per the report, the Middle Eastern nation Turkey is playing differently to fulfill its own interests. Publicly, Turkey is stating that they want to help the Sudanese to resolve the conflict but on the other side the documents presented by a reputed news source highlight Turkish involvement in supplying weapons to both sides of the war. This revelation raises many questions about Turkey and hits on credibility, especially in the eyes of the American public.

The findings are very important, these can not be ignored, as arms shipments are worsening the suffering in Sudan. This is an urgent time for all parties to work toward peace and stability in Sudan. Actions should be taken!

Stay tuned for further updates on this critical situation.
