Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly made the announcement that invitations have gone out to kings and presidents from around the globe, to attend the Grand Egyptian Museum’s (GEM) opening ceremony. Madbouly labeled it a global cultural event and emphasized that the government will honor the occasion with an event that met the expectations of Egyptians, reflecting the importance of the moment in light of Egypt’s historical past.

A Boost for Tourism and Culture

Madbouly said that the showcase inauguration would not only celebrate Egypt’s historical past but would also provide a platform for Egypt’s tourism, tourism sector, and other aspects of the economy. Similarly, cabinet spokesperson Mohamed el-Homsany mentioned that proposed portions of the inauguration would highlight Egypt’s past, present, and future via art, history, and communications technology.

The Grand Egyptian Museum is located adjacent to the Pyramids of Giza, is the largest archaeological museum in the world, and will display over 100,000 items, including the whole collection of King Tutankhamun’s treasures. The facility will include exhibition halls, a restoration facility, and a cultural activities space.
