Grizzlies Star Faces Penalty After Ignoring NBA Warning

Despite an office warning NBA officials fined Ja Morant $75,000 for shooting finger guns during Memphis Grizzlies games. The NBA director of operations Joe Dumars sent a memo stating Morant received notice from NBA league officials that his hand gestures sparked negative responses. After Morant made the finger gesture during his Tuesday matchup against the Golden State Warriors the NBA issued its subsequent punishment.
The 25-year-old player conducted this same action twice after teams from the NBA informed him about the rules during the games against Miami Heat and Golden State Warriors. When Morant scored the first three-pointer of the match he showed the handgun motion with both hands. Memphis won the game when Morant made a last-second three-point basket for a 110-108 final score and gained 30 points.
After being suspended repeatedly for wearing firearms, Morant repeats his behavior-
- March 2023: The NBA suspended Morant for eight games to his salary after he displayed a gun during an Instagram Live video.
- May 2023: Officials suspended Morant from 25 games at the beginning of 2023-2024 due to more footage showing him handling a firearm.
