Hezbollah Willing To Wage War With Israel Over Fuel Needs In Lebanon

Hezbollah

Lebanon LebanonThere are threats from Hezbollah to attack Israel, if Lebanon doesn’t get what it needs- oil. Strategically timed at the historic anniversary of the 2006 Hezbollah-Israel war, the Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was clear when he said that Lebanon has to be allowed to extract oil and gas from their disputed maritime border. If not then, “no one will.”

Lebanon has been facing extreme situation of no energy fuel. Their borrowing capacities have hit the roof as they have no money left to pay back their debts, leave alone buy new ones.

The attack comes at a crucial time when Joe Biden is making his first trip to the Middle East since taking on office. His trip is also being looked as a way to convince the OPEC + nations to increase their output in order America can be saved from any more inflation embarrassments as fuel prices hit the roof.

Mr Biden arrived in Tel Aviv on Wednesday for what will be a two-day visit with Israeli officials before he meets Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in the occupied West Bank.

The two countries have been trying to come on a level ground for towards peace negotiations. But tensions sparked last month between Lebanon and neighbouring Israel when an Israeli production ship approached Karish, a gasfield near the border.

The presence of the ship threatened to fully derail indirect negotiations, stalled since last year, between the two countries. The move also prompted more unpleasantness as Hezbollah send off three reconnaissance drones over the gasfield only for Israel to have shot them down.

From the moment of the ship being present, till the drones being shot down, everything has been seen as a sign of provocation by both countries.
