Iraq Streamlines Tourist Visa Process for Kuwait

The Ambassador of Iraq in Kuwait announced that Iraqi travelers can now access online tourist visas for Kuwait following a move to strengthen ties between the two nations. Iraq placed this system into operation on Tuesday based on the successful setup it used during the 26th Gulf Cup Football Championship. Both governments worked together to build the electronic tourist visa system with support from Ministry of Interior leader Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah and his staff.

The Ministry of Interior enables Iraqi citizens to secure their Kuwait visas directly through its official website using valid hotel bookings or residence documents in Kuwait. The new visa system will allow visitors to remain in Kuwait or Iraq briefly because it provides one-month stay permission. Following the eighth Kuwaiti-Iraqi Technical Legal Committee meeting Ambassador Al-Safi reports favorable results during their usual bi-monthly meetings that alternate between both countries.

Ambassador Al-Safi discussed the need to bring back citizenship rights for people whose citizenship was taken under Article 8 in Kuwait. The Iraqi embassy now receives official documents about Kuwaiti men’s wives who lost their Iraqi citizenship. Officials absorb these cases to create official steps for granting back Iraqi citizenship.

Iraqi citizens who previously gave up their nationality can start the restoration process at the Iraqi Embassy in Kuwait through its consular department.
