Lebanese Villagers Stand Defiant Against Israeli Occupation
Local residents from Lebanese villages face Israeli military opposition during their attempts to recover their home territory. The conflict grew worse when Israeli forces kept their military presence past January 26 which became the deadline for their withdrawal but they did not leave several important strategic areas.
Residents from Yaroun village try to reach their houses and olive groves through dirt barricade positions protected by Israeli soldiers shooting down at them. Six Lebanese civilians joined a Lebanese soldier among the wounded victims because Israeli soldiers shot at them on Tuesday according to local medical professional Mohammad Salman. According to the health ministry the deaths caused by Israeli attacks have reached 24 people with more than 150 injuries which included nine children along with a paramedic.
People living in the area continue to demonstrate determination regardless of the unsafe conditions. “This is our land”.
