The terrorist enforcement landscape in Morocco is gearing up for a revolutionary change since the kingdom prepares to implement bi-directional speed detection radar systems on the entire national highway network. According to the National Road Safety Agency, installation and operation of these state-of-the-art speed radars are to commence on June 16, thus cementing a big step forward in road safety for the country.

Enhanced Traffic Monitoring Through Advanced Radar Technology

The new radars have introduced a technological front into Morocco’s traffic enforcement. While conventional speed cameras watch vehicles approaching from one direction, these modern units would concurrently identify the incidence of speed violations of two-way traffic along main roads.

Dual-direction monitoring of traffic from vehicles rides away all enforcement blind spots that usually used to exist, thereby giving enforcement full coverage across vehicular movement patterns. The technology thus uses advanced sensors and processing algorithms that precisely differentiate between vehicles going in opposite directions and maintain exact speed measurements for each detected violation.

Comprehensive Speed Limit Enforcement Strategy

The upgraded speed camera system in Morocco fulfills a historical need for a gap within traffic law enforcement—some violations went unnoticed. Since the radars shoot in both directions, there is no longer an exploit whereby drivers would evade punishment by speeding in the direction that the radars were not pointed at.

According to the National Road Safety Agency, this project remains part of a policy that strives to ensure uniformity in enforcement standards on all Moroccan highways. Thus, every driver, irrespective of direction, destination, or vehicle type, shall bear the same standards for monitoring and penalties upon exceeding the limitations set for speed.

Technical Specifications and Operational Features

In the new radar installation, the technology uses the latest in detection methods, whereby one must be capable of detecting onto multiple lanes of traffic simultaneously without losing accuracy due to weather or traffic density conditions. Each unit shall be distinguished for different classes of vehicles for the application of different speed limits on motorcycles, passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and heavy transport trucks.

They also provide for storing data bases in very large data units for traffic analysis in different manners and for violation recording to help support legal proceedings when necessary. The technology also incorporates automatic number plate recognition features that fast-track the violation notification process.
