Saudi celebrities and Arab designers steal the show at Cannes Film Festival
The first day of the Cannes Film Festival was successful. Celebrities served up a major fashion moment at the film festival. Designers also showed their latest designs to the world.
The 76th annual Cannes Film Festival is scheduled to take place from 16 to 27 May 2023 at the Palace of Festivals and Congresses of Cannes in France. Saudi celebrities and Arab designers steal the show on the opening day of the Cannes Film Festival.

Amira Al-Zuhair, a successful model from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, wore a custom-made off-the-shoulder pink gown by Rami Kadi, a Lebanese-American fashion designer. The gown dress had some great details. The upper part of the gown was a corset style, and the bottom part consisted of a puffy skirt.
Saudi-backed film ‘Jeanne du Barry’ opened the Cannes Film Festival on 16 May. Amira Al-Zuhair attended the screening of the opening film “Jeanne du Barry.” She wrote on Instagram, “Opening ceremony of the 76th Festival de Cannes with the movie “Jeanne du Barry”, the first Saudi international co-production by Red Sea Film with France! So proud to witness this special moment as a French and Saudi woman!”
The film is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival. ‘Jeanne du Barry’ is produced by Why Not Productions and Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Film Foundation.
The film stars Johnny Depp, Maïwenn, Pierre Richard, and Noémie Lvovsky. It marks Depp’s first major role in a film since he won the defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The screening of the film received a seven-minute-long standing ovation. Depp was also seen tearing up. He also thanked his fans with folded hands. Depp also signed autographs and took pictures with his fans.

The film was also released theatrically in France by Le Pacte. It will arrive on Netflix, a streaming service, in the coming months.
