America Extends Internet Access To Iranian Population

The United States has used a unique standard of diplomacy as it has extended internet connection to Iranian population as the latter’s government continues to curb and control access. It has now been confirmed that the Treasury Department has allows technology companies to offer Iranians access to secure web platforms and services.
Under the force of the ‘morality police’ a young girl recently lost her life. As women took to the streets, they removed their hijab(s), burned them and even cut their hair in sheer disgust and protest to the evident human rights violation.
In order people don’t go to the internet to voice the atrocities committed against Mahsa Amini, the Iranian government had decided to curb internet control for over 80million of its citizens.
“While the Iranian government is cutting off its people’s access to the global internet, today the United States is taking action to support the free flow of information to the Iranian people,” says the US Special Envoy to Iran, Robert Malley.
The American department’s updated guidance will now authorize technology companies to offer Iranian citizens access to secure platforms and services after Tehran shut down access to WhatsApp and Instagram — two of the most widely used social media platforms in the country recently.
Ms. Amini was tortured for three days in prison for not covering her hair properly. She died after battling coma and her death was blamed on her heart attack. Her body was not given to her family who claimed that her body was covered with bruises of physical violence.
“It is clear that the Iranian government is afraid of its own people. Mahsa Amini is senselessly, tragically dead, and now the government is violently suppressing peaceful protesters rightly angry about her loss,” US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
The expanded license issued by Washington is designed to support communication tools that will assist Iranians in resisting internet censorship and surveillance tools used by the state.
It will also authorize VPNs, anti-tracking software, anti-censorship, anti-malware and related tools to protect Iranians’ ability to engage in free expression.
