Egypt Hosts SITA’s First Middle East Operations Centre

Egypt Becomes Digital Aviation Hub as SITA Launches First Command Centre in Middle East
Cairo, SITA, a worldwide leader in aviation technology, has officially opened its first regional command centre for the Middle East and Africa based in Cairo in a significant step forward in Egypt’s digital transformation path.
The command centre has been operational since September 2024 but had its official launch on Tuesday attended by Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Sameh El-Hefny and SITA’s MEA President Selim Bouri.
The Cairo hub will be part of Egypt’s wider national strategy to attract technology investment and enhance smart infrastructure in the aviation industry.
Cairo was chosen for the command centre for its strategic location, availability of skilled manpower and its attractiveness for investment.
The command centre will focus on the IT infrastructure platforms that link IT systems at airports and airlines and border control, which includes SITA Connect Go as a flexible connectivity, and Community DCS, which connects IT Systems to support airline operational activities.
Egypt is working with SITA and local universities to develop young talent for the aviation technology sector.
The command centre will also provide and monitor Saeta and its IT infrastructure for over 2,500 clients in 200+ countries, which comprises 70 government agencies.
SITA President Selim Bouri noted that the center represents “an investment in the future of digital aviation” and serves to reinforce the long-term rapport built with Egypt, which formally commenced in 1954.
