Iran has earned a spot in the 2025 FIP Arena World Polo Championship after a remarkable performance in the Asian qualifiers, defeating Pakistan .The win is an important development for Iranian polo, which is growing in popularity throughout the region.
Iran put in a good performance in this prestigious event with some of the best teams from Asia and a high level of skill. Although the Iranian team fielded many experienced players, they still entertained fans and viewers with their organization, speed to win a title, and overall agility to win a championship, where they would qualify to attend an extremely prestigious level world tournament. This is a giant step up for the country in International Polo.
The FIP Arena World Polo Championship will take place in 2025, but Iran’s qualification shows evidence of its increasing footprint within the sport. Polo has traditionally been thought of as a pastime of countries such as Argentina and the United Kingdom, yet recently as interest in polo has surged throughout Asia, particularly within Iran, India, and Pakistan, polo cannot but be claimed to be an emerging sport in the region. Iran’s qualification which not only recognizes its accomplishments in the sport of polo, but also highlights the increasing interest in equestrian sport overall in the Middle East and Central Asia.
