Is ChatGPT Down? Millions Unable to Access Chatbot, Is the Problem Fixed?

OpenAI’s AI chatbot “ChatGPT” is currently experiencing a global outage preventing customers from accessing the service over the web or app. According to Downdetector, the outage occurred at 5 PM IST and there have been over a thousand reports from users regarding the service not working properly. Users have also noticed problems with the chatbot on the social networking platform X.
OpenAI has recognised the outage and is currently trying to fix the technical issues. The company’s Status page which offers real-time information regarding its services reports that ChatGPT and its API are suffering “degraded performance.” A statement on the page reads that “We are currently experiencing elevated error rates in the API. We are currently investigating.”

Is the Problem Fixed?
On its Status page, OpenAI mentions “degraded performance” for ChatGPT and reports that the problem has been detected. The business is “currently working to implement a fix” to restore the service’s full functionality. However, the exact timing for settlement remains unknown.
