Morocco Establishes Historic Diplomatic Presence in Bolivia’s Economic Hub

A major diplomatic breakthrough occurred when Morocco officially inaugurated its honorary consulate in Santa Cruz de la Sierra on Wednesday, thus establishing the first diplomatic presence in the economic powerhouse of Bolivia. The opening ceremony was presided over by Ambassador Amin Chaoudri, who named the esteemed business and cultural figure, Murillo Dencker, as honorary consul.
The opening of this consulate marks a turning point in Morocco-Bolivia relations, which were re-established in 2020 after Bolivia withdrew its recognition of the self-imposed Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR).
Ambassador Chaoudri, during his speech, highlighted Morocco’s broader strategic vision for applied bilateral cooperation with Bolivia and emphasized the pivotal role that Santa Cruz’s economic standing may play. The office aims to facilitate cooperation in a myriad of dimensions:
- Trade and investment partnerships
- Tourism development
- Cultural exchange initiatives
- Academic cooperation programs
