Premier League 2023-24 Thriller; Aston Villa secures Draw after mishap against Liverpool
Aston Villa’s substitute Jhon Duran secured a thrilling home draw against archrivals Arsenal in today’s Premier League match to increase Aston Villa’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season. Duran, an incredible Colombian forward, took the field by storm in the 85th and 88th minutes of the game and scored 2 binders to secure the game for his team.
Timeline
First Half
The match started with Villa’s goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez scoring an own goal within the first 2 minutes of the game. Martinez with this goal has recorded the 3rd own goal of the season, the most ever scored by any goalkeeper in the history of the League.
To balance this out, Youri Tielemans scored for Aston Villa in the first half in the 12th minute with an assist from Ollie Watkins. But the relief was short lived for Villa supporters as Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo scored for the team in the 23rd minute, after a VAR check for offside and made it 2-1 on the scoreline.
Second Half
The second half started with a bang as Jarell Quansah added another one for the away team to make it 3-1 with the help of an assist from Harvey Elliot in the 3rd minute of the second half (48th minute). The goal came from a free kick shot made by Elliot that touched the post and was headed in by Quansah as he registered his first goal of the league.
After this, in the 65th minute Youri was substituted for strengthening the midfield by Nicolo Zaniolo for Villa. John McGinn got a yellow card for making a foul by grabbing Arsenal’s Diaz by the waist and plunging him to the ground. The 75th minute saw Liverpool making a change in the forward and midfield section by swapping Darwin Nunez in place of Gakpo and Curtis Jones for Luis Diaz and a few more changes.
