Today, at least one person has died after a Russian missile attack on Ukraine’s capital sparked multiple fires throughout the city, according to authorities. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a nine-year-old is among three people injured as a result of the airstrikes.
He noted that emergency services have been called to at least 4 different districts of Kyiv. Fires broke out at numerous residential and non-residential buildings due to the strikes. The person killed is possibly from the Obolonsky district.
There are reports of another person being injured in the district and a couple of office buildings being destroyed. The Russian attack also triggered a fire on the roof of a multi-story building in Sviatoshynskyi, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.
Prospects for continued peace negotiations to end the brutal Ukraine crisis have increased after US President Donald Trump returned to office last month. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Kyiv is going to soon talk to US officials.
