Saudi Arabia Enters Into Cloud Computing Investments With Alibaba Group

Saudi arabia–Cloud computing is going places and Saudi Arabia is no far in that aspect of technological advancement. With the government allowing setting up of data sharing centers in Riyadh, users have reasons to be happy.
Two new data centers were launched recently, that will offer customers in Saudi a local option to utilize global leading cloud capabilities with high availability, elasticity, security, sustainability.
Further, these new centers will also provide a wide range of proven and secure public cloud computing solutions ranging from elastic compute, storage, network to database to cater for the surging business demand from industries such as retail, fintech, internet, and so on along their digitalization journey in the region.

The centers are the brainchild of jointly Saudi Cloud Computing Company (SCCC), Saudi Telecom Company (stc) Group, eWTP Arabia Capital, the Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), and the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE).
The SCCC is a new joint venture company formed by Alibaba Cloud, the brainchild of billionaire investor Jack Ma who is gradually setting out of China and investing into other countries to expand his footprint. It is abundantly clear as to how important in the Kingdom for Alibaba. Selina Yuan, Alibaba Group VP & Alibaba Cloud Intelligence International President, pointed out that Saudi Arabia was a very strategic and important market for Alibaba Cloud.
Speaking to the media at the recent launch, SCCC Chairman Faisal Al Khamisi said, “Today, under the guidance and follow-up of HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, leader of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, the launch of SCCC’s services, a few days after the company’s establishment, has become clear evidence that we are working within the vision of a leader who works to ease legislation and laws in the Kingdom, support attracting investments, and enhancing the Kingdom’s digital position in the world,” noted Al Khamisi.
