South Korean dramas are becoming more and more popular in different countries across the globe. For example, Squid Game released in 2021 and the second season landed on Netflix on December 26, 2025, after a long, troubling three-year-long gap.
Since its premiere on the digital platform, Squid Game season 2 has been shattering major records. In fact, it has already become Netflix’s 7th most popular non-English series in history. In addition to that, it has broken multiple other records too.
The recently released series garnered more than 68 million views in the first three days on Netflix. Starring Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers and Hunter Doohan, ‘Wednesday’ is the platform’s all-time English series.

Fans of Squid Game recently got an unexpected 2025 treat as Netflix Korea accidentally announced the release date for the highly anticipated Squid Game season 3. A teaser video shared on YouTube seemed to unveil the premiere date.
The clip sparked speculation about the upcoming series. Titled ‘Squid Game Season 3, 2025 Release’, the teaser’s description noted the release date as June 27, 2025. The makers later deleted the clip.
Many netizens refer to season 3 as a fresh series, but the creator Dong-hyuk has explained that the upcoming release is more of a continuation of season 2, rather than a completely fresh season. Keep an eye out for more information.
