Turkiye Festival in Chicago begins today with cultural performances

A major festival of Turkish culture in the US is set to kick off this Friday in Chicago. The three-day Turkish Festival will be held at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

Visitors will be immersed in a variety of cultural elements including food tastings, folk dances, whirling dervishes, and a military band of the Ottawa EmpireThe diverse cultural exhibits will provide visitors with a taste of Türkiye’s distinctive cultural aspects.
At the festival, Antalyaspor will host over 200 booths with artists displaying Turkish arts and crafts, which will include calligraphy, ceramics, ebru (paper marbling), and tezhip (illumination). The artisans will demonstrate their work while speaking with visitors. Turkish Airlines will give away 10 round-trip tickets to Türkiye for winners drawn from the first 2,000 registered attendees.
Dignitaries will be in attendance from both Turkish and US officials, including the Turkish ambassador Sedat Onal. The festival’s purpose is to promote cultural connections and improve upon last year’s event, which drew over 15,000 visitors.
