Kuwait partners with Google Cloud to support AI public services

Kuwait’s Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, has reiterated the government’s commitment to enriching AI and data analytics to improve public services. This statement was made at a newly recent meeting with Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Al-Omar, and Google’s Cloud data analytics expert, Thomas Remy, who is also currently visiting Kuwait.

In the meeting, digital technology and further cooperation in AI-powered planning, predictive maintenance of infrastructure assets or technology, and resource management were discussed.

Dr. Al-Mashaan stated that smart use of data can lead to better policies and better services, using the lens of the real worldMinister Al-Omar highlighted that a strong digital ecosystem could link with the other ministries to support the national goals and objectives.

Noted discussion was framed within the context of Kuwait’s partnership with Google Cloud, for digital transformation and positioning Kuwait as a regional tech leader. Remy showed how Google Cloud has secure, scalable AI products to provide business support in transforming the operation of government agencies. The Ministry also noted the importance of developing local talent and a digital skill development strategy to establish ongoing implementation. Major General Jamal Al-Foudari from the Traffic Department also joined in the meeting to discuss AI in traffic management, to lessen traffic congestion, and to improve safety.
