World Halal Summit Highlights $8 Trillion Global Halal Market Expansion

The global halal economy has grown to $8 trillion in the last nine years, says Aylin Sengul, coordinator of the World Halal Summit. Sengul explained to Anadolu Agency that halal-certified products are gaining popularity not just among Muslims but also non-Muslims, thanks to their quality and trustworthiness.

The World Halal Summit and Halal Expo taking place in Istanbul are jointly organized by the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) with support from the Turkish Ministry of Trade and the Turkish Halal Accreditation Agency.

Sengul noted the impressive growth stating, “When we started, the global halal economy was valued at $1 trillion. With continued efforts in halal certification and accreditation, we expect it to grow to $12 trillion within the next five years.”
