Morocco Strengthens Blueberry Export Position in Southeast Asian Markets
Morocco expects to ship equal quantities of blueberries to Malaysia and Singapore during this season as they did last year. Morocco sent 610 tons of blueberries to its Asian customers during this season.
For December 2024 Morocco harvested 55 tons of blueberries. Singapore shows promising sales figures in February 2025 as part of our export schedule.
Malaysian importers continue to show interest in blueberries grown in Morocco. Singapore imported its greatest-ever quantity of Moroccan blueberries which reached 288 tons. Malaysia favorably selects the blueberry varieties produced in Morocco.
During this time period Singapore cut back its blueberry buying from Morocco and sold them back to the country in totality 322 tons. Morocco stands at position three among blueberry exporters to Malaysia and number four for Singapore. The largest blueberry industry rivals include China, South Africa, and Peru.
The total amount of blueberries consumed by both Singapore and Malaysia has increased during this period. During the 2023/24 blueberry season Singapore increased its purchases by 16% while Malaysia ramped up purchases by 73%. This market expansion opens new sales prospects between Moroccan and Asian blueberry traders.
Morocco’s main blueberry season runs from December to June. Markets receive smaller blueberries specifically from December to May when this market window reaches its peak export volume.
China took over blueberry supply dominance globally beginning in 2023/24. The main blueberry suppliers for global markets besides Morocco are Spain, the Netherlands, and Peru.
