Denmark’s Maersk Resumes Red Sea Route Despite Houthi Attacks

Maersk, a big shipping company from Denmark, continues to use the Suez Canal for its ships even after an attack by Houthi militants.
The Houthis are a group from Yemen who have been fighting a war and recently started attacking ships in the Red Sea. These Houthi militants are supported by Iran.
Because of these attacks, Maersk had stopped using the Red Sea route but now they’ve decided to start again, though they’re being very careful and changing plans for some ships.
The United States military helped stop an attack by the Houthis on a Maersk ship. The US and other countries have formed a special team to protect ships in the Red Sea. This team, called Operation Prosperity Guardian, is made up of many countries, like the US, UK, Canada, and others.
Because of the risk of attacks, some big shipping companies had stopped using the Red Sea and were taking a longer route around Africa. But now, with the protection from this international team, some companies, like Maersk, are returning to use the Red Sea.
