Egypt to launch first airport management, operation tenders before year-end

egypt to launch airport management tenders by end of 2025 (1)

Egypt plans to issue its first airport management and operation tenders before the end of 2025, according to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. This is all part of Egypt’s strategy of opening transport infrastructure to private sector involvement, especially in aviation.

The Prime Minister made this announcement during a meeting to discuss the airport development strategy. The government hopes to increase the quality of airport services and invite international operators to import their airport operation expertise. This now has a fresh focus and impetus, as Egypt looks to boost tourism and establish itself as a regional transport hub.

Madbouly stressed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has now entered the final phase of preparation of the technical and financial specifics needed to conduct the tenders. The tenders themselves will be open and competitive to both local and/or international operators.

This is part of the wider goals of modernizing Egypt’s infrastructure using a public-private partnership model. By bringing experienced operators in to manage and operate airports, the government is hoping to develop a more cost-effective, efficient service, and excellent passenger experience.

If successful, this will set a new precedent for airport operations in the region.
