Iran is preparing to host the 18th International Resistance Film Festival beginning on May 17, 2025 in Tehran, running through May 24, with this date marking the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr during the Iran-Iraq war.

This annual event highlights films focused on resistance, justice, and cultural identity, and includes filmmakers from near and far and in between screening films that embody strength in the face of war, and industry turmoil.

If this festival is indeed a “celebration of cinema,” it is also a tribute to the memories of the heroes who gave everything for the freedom of the country. We expect the Iranian film industry to be on international display a little more this year, and for the festival to us bold storytelling.
