iran beats mongolia 89 55 in fiba women’s asia cup division b (1)

Iran’s women’s basketball team held their own in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2025 Division B with a commanding 89-55 win over Mongolia on Tuesday. The contest was played in Shenzhen, China, where Iran hopes to achieve promotion to Division A.

Once more, Negin Rasoulipour was a standout for Iran, leading her team with 20 points. The Mongolians also had their stars, including Tsatsral Bayarmaa and Khulan Onolbaatar—who can at least say they scored 10 points—but despite their solid contributions, team Melli left them trailing nearly the entire way.

Moving upward is Iran’s second victory in the prestigious tournament. The first was on Sunday, where they absolutely crushed the Cook Islands 82-32. Iran’s next contest will be with Thailand on Wednesday. What we have witnessed so far is that this Iranian women’s team has been very energetic. There appears to be lots of youthful exuberance and attacking style. They are among the more motivated teams in the event thus far, and they wouldn’t have been different if they were ranked A or ranked B.

Iran has back-to-back wins, and their confidence is at an all-time high.If they continue to win, who knows how far they can go and get promoted to Division A. It would be a remarkable opportunity for women’s basketball in the country.
