IRGC Vows Revenge for Commander Killed in Israeli Airstrike in Syria
The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) has vowed revenge on the Israel for Commander Seyed Razi Mousavi who was killed in an Israeli airstrike near Damascus in Syria on Monday.
Mousavi was one of the close companions of Qassem Soleimani, the major general and commander of the Quds Force who was killed in a US-led airstrike in Iraq in 2020. The IRGC confirmed the killing of Brigadier-General Razi Mousavi. He was in charge of logistics support for the Resistant Front in Syria.
The IRGC in an official statement said “We bring to the awareness of the noble and heroic Iranian nation, that a few hours ago, in a criminal airstrike by the fake and child-killing Zionist regime on Damascus, Brigadier-General Sayyed Razi Mousavi, one of the IRGC’s experienced military advisers, was martyred in Syria.
“He was one of the comrades of martyr general Hajj Qassem Soleimani, and was responsible for supporting the resistance front in Syria. Congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of this heroic commander to his noble family and the commanders and fighters of the Islamic Resistance Front. It is emphasized that the usurping and barbaric Zionist regime will pay for this crime.”
Commander Razi Mousavi
According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the Israeli military targeted Mousavi when he entered a farm in Sayida Zeinab neighborhood which was one of the several offices of Hezbollah. Two other Iranian generals were killed in similar strikes earlier this month in Syria.
Iran President Ebrahim Raisi described Seyyed Raizi was a brave and courageous person who was among the companions of the assassinated general Qassem Soleimani. “Seyyed Razi was martyred while serving as an advisor for the resistant front, defending holy shrines in Syria as well as safeguarding Islamic ideals.” Raisi believes the killing of Mousavi is another sign of frustration and weakness of the Israeli regime in the region. “The Israeli regime will definitely pay for this crime.”
Reports say Iran has an advisory mission in Syria at the request of Damascus to help the war-torn country get rid of foreign-backed militants who have been fighting the elected government since 2011.
