Israel Denies Genocide Allegations in New Amnesty Report
London-based human rights organization Amnesty International has said that Israel is responsible for the genocide against Palestinians during the Gaza war in a new report. In the report they said that actions of Israel during the war met the legal definition of genocide. This is according to the outline of the 1948 Genocide Convention.
The report is based on months of analysis such as killings serious harm and deliberate conditions leading to destruction allegedly carried out with intent. Amnesty reviewed over 100 statements from Israeli officials and evidence from the conflict to substantiate its claims.
Israel has strongly denied the accusations of genocide war crimes, calling them untrue and unfair.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Oren Marmorstein said this report is “fabricated and false.”
On October 7, 2023 the war began in middle east which killed 1,200 Israelis. Accrding to the report by Health Ministry of Gaza over 44,500 Palestinian deaths since the conflict began, with widespread displacement affecting millions.
General Agnes Callamard asked for a report by saying, “There is no doubt in our mind after six months of research.”
ICC has ongoing investigations but has not commented further.
