Morocco's Digital Leap: Maroc Telecom and Inwi Join Forces for 5G Revolution

Through their strategic partnership Maroc Telecom and Inwi plan to speed up development of digital infrastructure across Morocco. The partnership works to speed up the installation of both fiber optic systems and 5G networks across Morocco.

The companies want to fast-track the infrastructure rollout by establishing two separate businesses – FiberCo and TowerCo. FiberCo intends to install 1 million fiber connections throughout two years with the objective to add 3 million fiber connections in five years.

As part of its expansion plan TowerCo will build 2,000 towers in three years and increase the total to 6,000 towers over ten years to support the rising demands of 5G networks. These complete plans will give better network choices to city and rural communities.

The beginning stage of digital transformation requires AED4.4 billion ($1.2 billion) over three years for funding. The team expects approval of this project which will start the launching phase.

As e& Chairman Jassem Alzaabi explained this deal brings Morocco closer to market stability and better global investment potential. The government creates a balanced market environment through its programs to help this partnership become reality.

Under the leadership of e& Group CEO Hatem Dowidar, this business venture will open new digital avenues for Morocco’s future. More advanced network systems will enable Morocco to deliver better online public services as well as support business development which positions Morocco more strongly in the area.
