Now is the Time to Right the Wrong – Liberate Palestine

palestine

Another day of ceasefire in Gaza is much welcomed, but the West must do more than allowing smooth flow of humanitarian aid into the besieged territory. Liberation. Freedom. A political resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a two –state solution.

The past month has seen lack of empathy from the West for Palestine and its people. Whilst supporting Israel and its right to self-defense, the West doesn’t recognize the right of sovereignty and freedom for Palestine. Israel continues to occupy Palestine, raid residential houses and refugee camps and prevent the Palestinians from offering prayers at the Al Aqsa Mosque.

On October 7, Hamas militants killed 1,200 Israelis. Then Israel bombarded Gaza night and day, and killed over 15,000 people, majority being children and women. Israeli allies, mainly the US and the United Kingdom turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to the blood-culling shrieks of bombed and dying civilians in Gaza.

Liberate Palestine

Countries like Germany are hiding behind their dark pasts, the holocaust, to defend their unmoving stance with Israel and its manslaughter. The US cited the 9/11 attacks carried out by the Al-Qaeda in 2001, saying Hamas October 7 Al Aqsa Flood is the same. With failed wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Washington wants Israel to succeed in Gaza.

However, the people of Palestine and the Middle East are saying enough, and so are millions of people around the world. They are demanding a permanent ceasefire and a solution – liberated Palestine. For long, the people of Palestine have been denied a rightful life, and dignity. The Palestinians cannot be collectively punished for a militant group’s actions.

And nothing comes out of war except bloodshed, destruction and displacement. The problem remains the same. Now the question arises, should the Palestinians persist with the quest for a two-state solution, with the support of the international community, and under the UN resolutions, or should they abandon this dream for good because Israel and its allies will never help the Palestinians fulfill this.

Fighting for Palestine

Gone is the era of occupation. The world is witnessing so many breakthroughs and technological advancements but world governments are unable to fully leverage it because of the wars. Funds and grants are given to restock military hardware and munition, whilst millions sleep at night with empty and hungry stomachs.

Governments are fighting for rights of LGBTQ, and abortion etc, but they will not give a minute or dwell on what’s happening in Palestine.

Priorities are just…all wrong.
