Pakistan Envoy Holds Key Talks with Egypt’s Religious Leader

During a visit to the Dar Al-Ifta institution in Cairo, Ambassador Aamer Shouket met with Egypt’s Grand Mufti, Dr. Nazir Mohammed Ayyad. Officials in the high-level meeting focused on making religious unity stronger and finding solutions to today’s challenges facing Muslims everywhere. At that meeting, the leaders called upon followers of many religions to work peacefully together. They talked about how hate speech hurts the ties between religions. It was agreed by the officials that saying negative things about people of other faiths can disrupt peace across different faith communities.
Ambassador Shouket acknowledged the strong education partnership between Gulf countries and Pakistan, and he praised Al-Azhar University scholars for spreading the true teachings of Islam overseas. The center is recognized around the world as a leading place for the study of Islam.
Dr. Ayyad recognized the esteem in which Pakistan is held by Egyptians, telling about his recent visit to meet Shehbaz Sharif. The Grand Mufti expressed happiness with Pakistan’s people and the leadership. At the meeting, Egypt highlighted the long history between the countries, and it was announced that Egypt will open an Al-Azhar University campus in Pakistan. The move is a major step forward in how the two Muslim-majority states cooperate in education. Even while confronting issues with minorities and security, Pakistan keeps prioritizing religious inclusivity.
