Prices Soar in Gaza After Israeli Aid Blockade

People in Gaza report significant price rises for basic items because Israel shuts down all supply entry points into the conflict area. The community fears full food shortages because people rush to stockpile supplies now.
“Some items now cost considerably more in the market”. as stated by Gazan resident Belal al-Helou. According to the interviewee, Palestinian residents panic because food supply imports through Gaza’s crossings are stalled. According to a second shopper identified as Adly al-Ghandour food costs have gone up 80% since the start of the crisis and will jump 200% with continued border blockage.
The present aid blockade follows an important moment in both Ramadan and marks the end of the first phase of a truce agreement that concluded on March 1. UNRWA struggles to maintain its humanitarian mission because the situation brings critical problems to its essential support programs. International leaders criticize Israel’s blockade practices by saying starving kids is illegal and Pakistan’s Foreign Office calls blockade part of Israel’s ongoing suppression of Palestinian hands who need aid during emergencies.
