Turkiye Organizes First Electric Bicycle Race in Cappadocia

Turkiye has made history in cycling it hosted its first electric bicycle race in awe-inspiring Cappadocia, bringing a modern twist to long-cherished outdoor follow. The e-bike race was held during the internationally recognized Cappadocia Bike Festival in Urgup, famous for its “fairy chimneys”, ancient cave dwellings, and winding valley trails.
Competitors in the MTB & E‑MTB category took to the rugged course consisting of 50 km of trails and an elevation of 1,000 m to be completed within 2.5 hours. Entry-level riders aged 16 and over, as well as regular cycling participants, were welcomed to try out the magical and captivating riding conditions on electric bicycles.
With its fascinating landscape, which is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its historical valleys and unique rock formations, Cappadocia provided the riders with an exciting, albeit challenging mountain bike course as well as breathtaking scenery. Riders tackled red plateaus, narrow ridges, and trails in one of the world’s most iconic outdoor spaces.
From this first milestone event, Turkiye is taking a greater interest in sustainable and innovative tourism and sport. Adding adventure, in the form of green mobility for long-distance travel, is a big jump for eco-friendly travel and exciting new outdoor activities.
