On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will meet at the White House to sign a minerals deal granting the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare earth metals.
This meeting comes just a week after Trump called Zelensky a “dictator” and blamed Ukraine for the ongoing war with Russia. However, Trump’s tone has since softened following visits from French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

While Britain and France have offered peacekeeping support, they insist the U.S. must provide intelligence and airpower. Trump, however, remains non-committal, stating, “It’ll either be fairly soon or it won’t be at all.”
