US Seeks De-escalation in the Middle East
The US has been a key supporter of Israel in its response to attacks by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Following a deadly attack by Hamas inside Israel on October 7, Israel launched a campaign in Gaza with US backing. While supporting Israel’s right to defend itself, the US has stressed the importance of conducting military operations under international humanitarian law.
